This blog is for everything that doesn’t fit anywhere else in my online presence; it’s usually in use for family and friends whilst I am traveling but also for general observations and occasionally work-related material…the name comes from a Bright Eyes song by Conor Oberst: “I’m not surprised but I never feel quite prepared” which sort of sums it all up really.

The word “Observating” appears here sometimes. My daughter invented it when she was about 5 years old.  It suggests something midway between noticing and observing.  Observating.
